Dr. Michael Thompson
Dr. Thompson graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1999, and served his residency at the NH-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency Program. We have been fortunate to have Dr. Thompson's caring presence at the Dover Avis Goodwin clinic since 2002. Dr. Thompson has a unique role at the Dover clinic, as the prenatal physician as well as a family physician. This means that he can deliver a baby and continue providing that child's (as well as the child's family's) healthcare all the way through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. This provides a close, knowledgeable relationship with the families for whom he provides healthcare. Dr. Thompson lives in Dover with his wife and 3 children.
Dr. Jolene Shuman
Dr. Shuman completed medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1992. She belongs to the American Academy of Family Physicians, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Shuman recently relocated to this area from Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, where she was most recently Medical Director of the Health Center. As a family physician, Dr. Shuman sees patients of all ages with varying needs. She is looking forward to getting to know the whole family, and providing their healthcare needs through infancy, childhood, adolescence, and beyond! She lives in the area with her husband and two children.
Diane Bernard, Physician Assistant
Diane Bernard is a Physician Assistant in our Rochester clinic site. She received her Physician Assistant education at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany, New York, and has been working as a Physician Assistant since 1990.
Dr. Ahmed Hussain
Dr. Hussain is our new Family Practice Physician, now accepting new patients at our Rochester medical office. He has recently relocated to the area. Dr.Dale Ferguson Dr. Ferguson attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His internship included obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and pediatrics. His OB/GYN residency included a rotation in gynecological oncology at John Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Ferguson practiced for 2 years in Baltimore, Maryland, where he had an academic appointment as Instructor for John Hopkins University School of Medicine. He then moved to Ohio for one year before moving to Rochester, New Hampshire in 1987. He maintained a private practice in Rochester before joining Avis Goodwin Community Health Center in December of 2005. Dr. Ferguson is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Nii Lokko graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He was born in Ghana, where his parents still live. Through his residency at Tufts University, Dr. Lokko has experience providing dental care to special needs populations, as well as emergency dental care. Dr. Lokko and his new bride reside in the area.

Kim Gallant hales from eastern Iowa where she completed her undergraduate studies in social work at the University of Iowa. After several years of working in feminist women's health centers both in Iowa and Seattle, she decided to formally pursue a career in medicine. She obtained her Masters in Science and certification in Physician Assistant studies at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine in 2000. She has been working with Avis Goodwin Community Health Center Rochester clinic since 2000. Though she occasionally misses the open span of an endless farmland, she enjoys New England's charm and proximity to ocean and mountains. She spends much of her free time with her husband, 2 children, and their dog playing in the New Hampshire woods.
