Avis Goodwin CHC offers a focus in women's health by providing resources and counseling alongside a multi-disciplined prenatal program that includes: nursing case management, nutritional support, the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, and dedicated providers who specialize in women's health issues.

 

Confidential Family Planning Options and Counseling

Avis Goodwin CHC is Strafford County's Title X family planning agency. This federal program declares that "no American woman should be denied access to family planning assistance because of her economic condition". This means that our family planning patients are entitled to confidential counseling, screening, and treatment regardless of their ability to pay. Any treatment or preventive health care services that are critical to our patients' reproductive and sexual health fall under this Title X guideline. We believe that contraception choices are a basic health care need for women and their partners, and that access to family planning options can have a big impact on our patients' wellness. Our family planning patients are provided with the latest contraceptive options at the lowest cost possible.

Prenatal Program

Our prenatal program is very special to us, as it is one of the original programs begun at Avis Goodwin CHC 30 years ago. We use a comprehensive, caring team approach to our prenatal program, meeting each patient's needs in a natural, holistic way. In addition to physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses who specialize in prenatal healthcare, we offer a full array of services, including nutritionists and social workers who can help you with all of your questions during your pregnancy. Our goal is to help each child-bearing family have the most positive birth experience possible. We provide a wealth of prenatal education through your visits with the staff, educational materials, and various classes. 5 week childbirth classes are free of charge and given through the Birth Centers at both Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
